Kalakaar 2015 Rules
Each Entry consists of an entry form and a single image. Only one image can be submitted per person. There is no entry fee to participate. To enter the contest, please visit our participation page and submit your photograph in accordance with the instructions that follow.
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. Photos will be credited to the photographer named in the entry form. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed on marketing materials of Vibha and Vibha supported projects; and the webpages, website, social media and blogs owned or managed by Vibha (Help Them Grow, Inc) without any fee or other form of compensation.
Number of entries
Only one entry is allowed per person. Each entry must comply with the requirements stated below.
Photographs must be in digital format. Only online entries will be eligible. No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest. The photograph need not be taken with a digital camera; scans of negatives, transparencies, or photographic prints are acceptable. All digital files must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG, JPG, GIF or PNG format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable. For more information, please read our comments on photo processing. Any changes to the original photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the photograph ineligible for a prize.
Photographs that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art will be accepted as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close-up of another person’s art.
Image Manipulations Rules
Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable. Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified. No borders or frames may be added to images. No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images. All winning images will be displayed with the photographer’s name. Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted. Artistic filters are not permitted. Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications. Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained.
Allowed Red-eye removal and spot editing:
- One-step enhancement (such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix", "Auto Levels", etc.)
- Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise.
- Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint.
Ownership of your submission
The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph.
The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Vibha, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
Caption for your submission
The caption must be complete and accurate, sufficient to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken. Disguising or misrepresenting the origin of your content is cause for disqualification.
Watermarks are not acceptable. If Vibha does not receive a non-watermarked version of the entry within ten (10) days following its request, the entry will be disqualified.
Judging panel will consist of more than 25 photographers with excellent photography skills and diverse backgrounds. The entries in each age category for each theme will be judged separately, in accordance with the judging criteria, as defined below. All entries must be submitted and received byDecember 1, 2013, 12 AM PST.
Proof of submission is not proof of receipt. Vibha reserves the right to examine the original photograph/source material in order to confirm compliance with these rules.
Contest consists of three (3) rounds of evaluation.
• In Round One, each judge in a panel of photographic experts (at least one of whom will be independent of Sponsor) ("Judges") will select ten (10) entries in each Category from among all eligible entries based on the following criteria ("Judging Criteria"): (1) Creativity; (2) Photographic quality; (3) genuineness/authenticity of the content. The entries selected in Round One will proceed to Round Two.
• In Round Two, the Judges will collectively select a First Place Winner in each Category based on the Judging Criteria.
• In Round Three, the Judges will select a Grand Prize Winner from among the First Place Winners based on the Judging Criteria. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges for a rejudging between the tied entries alone. In the event that a tie remains after re-judging, the entry with the highest score in the creativity criteria will be declared the winner.
Decisions of the judges are final and binding

Vibha is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, Vibha is not responsible for: any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the processing of entries. Vibha reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this contest, or extend the duration of the contest. Vibha is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. Vibha reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that Vibha has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules. By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless Vibha and its volunteers, employees and affiliates from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights. Vibha and its volunteers, employees and affiliates assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.
